The Aircast Air-Stirrup Ankle Brace is a semi-rigid orthotic device specifically designed to provide medical-grade support while still allowing for functional movement. The Aircast Air-Stirrup has two rigid, anatomically shaped plastic shells connected by a hinge at the bottom. These shells are lined with pre-inflated air cells that provide customized compression while it's U-shaped design cradles the ankle from both sides while leaving the heel and front of the foot open.
Developed by medical professionals to address specific ankle pathologies. The semi-rigid structure limits side-to-side movement (inversion and eversion) where most ankle injuries occur, while still allowing normal up-and-down motion (plantar flexion and dorsiflexion) for walking.
